'This Is Us' Actress Chrissy Metz Required To Lose Weight To Keep Her Role

"This Is US" may have captured the attention of their viewers, but speculations regarding the show's cancellation made the headlines. Aside from the cancellation rumors, the show was also slammed after news broke out that Chrissy Metz was forced to lose weight for the comedy drama.

Chrissy Metz co-stars with Justin Hartley who played Adam Newman on "This Is Us," a comedy-drama that managed to capture the viewers' attention because of its humor. Chrissy Metz plays the role of a 36-year-old who struggled with her body image and obesity. As the first season is bound to end, it was mentioned that Chrissy Metz was forced to lose weight for her to be on the show.

Celebrity Laundry mentioned that fans were disheartened as they look up to her in terms of the confidence and body image. It was then added that most of the viewers were disheartened, which caused them to lose interest in the series.

These claims, however ,were proven to be false as Chrissy Metz herself admitted that she is more than willing to shed her weight. It may be a long journey for the "This Is US" star, but her determination shed a light to obese individuals that looked to her.

"In our contract, it did state that that would be a part of it, to lose the weight in the trajectory of the character as she comes to find herself," Chrissy Metz told TV Line.

A person's body image is an important aspect in one's mental health as it affects the person's self-confidence. Though it may be a healthy way to view one's body with a positive outlook despite the size, the important factor ,however, is focusing on one's physical health as well.

Fat or body shaming has become the norm, which highly affects individuals worldwide. Girls are the prominent victims of fat shaming, which eventually leads to depression and anxiety. As for men, they are more prone to bullying and isolation, because of being obese.

Fat and body shaming can be lethal to a person's mental health, but obesity needs to be taken seriously as it can lead to alarming health problems that may eventually lead to serious health issues including high blood pressure, heart attack, and chronic illnesses.
