‘Alien: Covenant’ Latest Update: Teaser Poster of ‘Prometheus’ Sequel Film Reveals Premier Date Moved Earlier; Brings Classic Monsters Back

The sequel to the 2012 science fiction movie Prometheus will be moved earlier than previously announced. Alien: Covenant is the second installment to the Alien prequel series and will also be directed by Ridley Scott. The single photo poster promises to bring back the 1979 Aliens to theater next year.

The Alien: Covenant sequel premier date will be moved from August 4, 2017 to May 19, 2017 according to its newly released movie poster. It appears that the movie's post-production work finished earlier than expected despite its challenges. According to its director, Ridley Scott, the new movie ties together the 1979 Alien film and Prometheus.

The movie is set years after the doomed Prometheus expedition. It follows the story of the crew of the spaceship Covenant after they discover a planet they thought was an unchartered territory. Little did they know, it was already discovered in the past expedition that resulted in the horrific death of the Prometheus crew and inhabited by David, a robot who survived in 'Prometheus'.

Alien: Covenant casts include Michael Fassbender as David, Katherine Waterston, Noomi Rapace and Guy Pearce. According to Game Spot, Fassbender will also play the role of another robot called Walter.

Fans can expect some of the elements of the classic Alien movie and 'Prometheus' as well. "I think what's great about it is that Ridley has gone back to the original DNA of Alien, the horror element of that." says Fassbender. "But it also has the scope and the scale of Prometheus." He added.

So this coming summer season, expect another chilling movie as Alien: Covenant incorporates more of the Alien horror theme most fans were missing in the prequel movie Prometheus. The poster shows it all, a single image of the classic Alien fans know all too well. It may be simple but it's equally horrifying and perhaps it would be best to heed its tagline warning: Run.
