Holiday Reading: These New Christmas Books Are Perfect Gifts For Children

The holiday is a time for gift-giving and for those wrapping presents for children, toys aren't the only option. Young book lovers will love receiving, well, books for Christmas and there are some recently released titles that are guaranteed to capture their attention and make their love for the written word grow even more.

Melissa Nicholson's "Prissy & Pop Deck the Halls" for children with ages four to eight is one of the holiday-themed books that kids can really appreciate, according to USA Today. "Prissy and Pop Deck the Halls" tells the story of Instagram stars Priscilla and Poppleton (a.k.a. Prissy & Pop), who are both tiny pigs with vibrant personalities.

The pigs dress up in lots of costumes, decorate the tree, bake Christmas cookies and sing the popular Christmas tune "Jingle Bells." Prissy and Pop's adventures will surely make children delighted during the holidays as they peruse through the book.

Another holiday-themed book for children is Greg Wolfe's "Shmelf the Hanukkah Elf." The book, which is for kids aged between three and six, is loaded with funny illustrations featuring the elf Shmelf and a reindeer called Asher, who were both tasked by Santa to spread Hanukkah cheer to Jewish children.

Maureen Fergus' "The Day Santa Stopped Believing in Harold," on the other hand, centers on a sad Santa Claus who's troubled that a boy named Harold may not exist. The funny and engaging book turns the tables on the "Is there really a Santa Claus?" question plaguing kids' minds.

Debbie Powell's "Walk This World at Christmastime" showcases global cultures, specifically how people around the world celebrate Christmas in unique ways. This informative book features illustrations with black accents against colorful backdrops. There are also decorated flaps inside that kids can open to reveal trivia about Christmas celebrations around the globe, The Wall Street Journal wrote.

"Maple & Willow's Christmas Tree" by Lori Nichols is for children aged three to five. It tells the story of sisters Maple and Willow, who are ecstatic over having their very first Christmas tree - until Maple gets allergies and starts sneezing. This book shines a spotlight on sibling relationship, which is something that a lot of children can relate to.

In "Stowaway in a Sleigh" by Roger Mader, a curious cat named Slipper lands herself in Santa's sack and is transported to the North Pole. Mrs. Claus discovers Slipper in her husband's sack and realizes that the cat needs a ride home. This book best suits children aged four to seven.
