Understanding Puberty Through a Parent’s Mindset

Puberty is the start of an incredible journey of adulthood. It is the stage where so many changes happen in person. These changes include hormonal, emotional and physical change.

Though adults have already gone through their puberty stage, most parents are still left in shock of the changes their teenage children are having. Of all these changes, their children's physical change is what surprise them the most.

One of the reasons why most parents now have little to zero idea about their children's puberty stage is that years ago, people does not magnify the situation. To them, it is just a phase where everyone will face, and it is not a big deal. Unlike with the present culture now where most parents would want to be there for their children no matter what the situation is. They are always ready to guide them especially when they most need it.

Melissa Fenton, a blogger of Scary Mommy, shared to her post she also has been clueless when it comes to how puberty would strike her sons. She said, "I had no idea what puberty was going to look like for my children until it practically happened overnight."

According to Fenton, certain signs can help a parent realize and understand that their children are already at the end of their young years. These signs also differ from boys to girls.

Signs for boys include an increase in appetite, an immediate gain in height and weird voice change. On the other hand, indications for girls include emotional instability and irritability.

Teens in their puberty stage often had a hard time understanding their body during their puberty that they tend to look for information from everywhere. Some of them might even search from those unreliable and untrustworthy sources.

Experts advise parents that during this phase, the most important thing to do is to create a bond with their children even more. As posted in DNA India, talking to them can make a huge difference.
