New Nike Ad Girl Bella Hadid Criticized For Being Too Skinny

Nike has been criticized by sportswear fans for featuring the very skinny model Bella Hadid in their latest advertisement campaign. The 20-year old model, who is the sister of Sports Illustrated model Gigi Hadid, landed the major ad campaign which included her very own billboard strategically placed all over New York City.

Bella's Nike billboard had her standing while showing off her flat stomach and slender legs. Daily Mail  said bashers have slammed Bella all over the social media with posts like "Not an athlete! Lets boycott" and "Sport brands need to use an athletic bodied person to model. I'm not wearing Nike gear to get skinny. I'm wearing it to get in shape!" Most of the critics were worried that Nike's choice would have a negative effect on the self esteem of young people.

While others have congratulated Bella for bagging the contract, others criticized her body as unsuitable for a fitness brand. Others equated her being too skinny to the increasing number of people with eating disorders. Fans said a sports brand like Nike should not glorify someone who is just too thin. Cosmopolitan said critics said Bella is not an athlete and with her ribs sticking out of her body, is not an ideal model for the brand.

Bella admitted she has indeed lost weight as a result of her training for the coming Victoria's Secret Fashion Show which is a first for her. She said she does not really want to lose weight since it reduces her buttocks and breasts but she could not help it because her weight could easily fluctuate. With a minimum three hours of work our every day, it is not surprising to see Bella on the skinny side.

Teen said Bella herself acknowledged the changes in her body since she started her modeling career. Contrary to what her critics claim, Bella is one athletic girl and has been into horseback riding for years now. She even had plans to join the Olympics this year if not for her Lyme Disease.
