iPhone 8 News & Updates: Will Apple Work On Bendable Screens?

2017 can be the year where Apple fans can witness a curved screen iPhone 8. An insider reports that Apple is testing 10 different prototypes for the upcoming flagship, which can be named as iPhone 8 or may be something else as 2017 will be the 10th  anniversary of Apple Inc.

Reportedly, Apple is asking the iPhone part suppliers to gear up production of OLED screens and increase prototypes with better resolutions displays. Apple will surely mark its 10th anniversary with something very special and snazzy. Fans should not expect something usual with respect to its design and price.

According to reports, Sharp needs more than $5 billion to develop the technology and capacity to supply OLED screens to Apple. "We don't know whether Apple's OLED iPhones will be a hit, but if Apple doesn't walk down this path and transform itself, there will be no innovation. It is a crisis but it is also an opportunity," Sharp chief executive Tai Jeng-wu said.

Obviously, with OLED screens, the next flagship of Apple will be costly. Although the tech giants are looking for curved screens, it doesn't make sure that Apple is trying for the same. It can always go for a different idea, the CNET reported.

Few smartphones with curved screens include LG G Flex and Samsung S Edge with curves at the sides. Samsung is trying to innovate the phone technology with bendable screens like wallets the users can flip them.

"We predict three new iPhone models will be launched in 2017: 5.1-5.2" OLED, 4.7" TFT-LCD, and 5.5" TFT-LCD," the KGI Securities analyst wrote. It is unpredictable what will Apple's next surprise. However, Apple's next year iPhone launches will completely depend on Asian suppliers.

While all are still rumors, fans take them with a pinch of salt. Stay tuned for more updates.
