Are Parents Spending Too Much Trying To Throw Off The Perfect Birthday Party For Kids?

In the past, birthday parties were celebrated with home-made cakes and puddings. Some street friends were invited and that's all. With the passage of time, birthday parties have evolved. Today, party planners organize birthdays, keeping in mind the choices of kids in all the party favors.

ABC News tells how much a "perfect" birthday party costs these days. Michelle Foord makes custom-made cakes for birthdays and other events. Michelle states that these cakes are costly because children want their favorite characters on top of their birthday cakes and parents even pay three hundred dollars for such cakes. Although when children eat the cake, the decoration is just a mere part of their munch.

Entertainers are also invited to birthday parties, Stephen Spiegelhauer is a party entertainer and has been in the field for the past six years. In Spiegelhauer's experience, parents spend up to two hundred dollars on entertainers and most of the time, the parents with a single child spend more on such entertainers.

Teigan Dennis, a balloon artist, says that parents are very competitive when it comes to decoration. They'd spend a lot of money on just balloons and ornaments for their kid's birthday party.

Parenting offers help for parents to select ways in which birthdays could cost less and parents could relieve themselves from the pressure. They say that birthday parties are useless if children don't even know what's happening around them. Unless a child is above four years, a birthday party is by no means fun for them.

Experts also advise parents to invite only those kids with which your child have a connection and don't try to imitate or compete with other parents. A toddler only cares about eating a cake and spending money on fancy cakes and buntings is a waste of both money and time.

So, are you the type of a parent who spends too much on your kid's birthday party? Please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences below.
