Parenting With Humor: 'Science Of Parenthood' Book Is For Moms And Dads Who Believe Laughter Is The Best Parenting Tool

Parents Norine Dworkin-McDaniel and Jessica Ziegler have struggled with raising kids just like any other adult. But from these struggles came an idea that gave birth to a humor book called "Science of Parenthood."

Launched in 2015, the book has been receiving startling reviews from parents who need the jokes to de-stress from their parenting duties. According to reader reviews at Amazon, "Science of Parenthood" has a sharp and smart writing as well as illustrations that would tickle mom and dad's funny bones.

Norine Dworkin-McDaniel began to write about parenting truth-isms she has picked up from her encounters with her son on her personal Facebook account. Then fellow mom and friend Jessica Ziegler eventually gave life to her words by doing the cartoons, according to the book's official page.

Their first collaboration was about Newton's First Law of Parenting as seen in the Facebook post below. It was inspired by Norine's experience with her son Fletcher who was in second grade at that time.

The two moms further collaborated on parenting humor and truth-isms on social media before the book idea was hatched. The authors say that while the book is autobiographical, they found out that their stories resonated so well with other parents.

"From a purely parental perspective, it's wonderful to know that other parents are in the exact same position we are," Norine Dworkin-McDaniel said, via Good Men Project. Pretty soon, parents referred to the "Science of Parenthood" like it was an actual parenting manual or guide.

Yet Norine Dworkin-McDaniel said that this wasn't the original idea for why they came up with the book. "We set out to write a book that would make parents laugh but in the process we created what several reviewers described as one of the most honest parenting guides out there," she said, according to Playground Magazine.
