Pharell Williams And Ellen DeGeneres Are Not Okay With Kim Burrell's Homophobic Comments; Will Gospel Singer Still Perform On Show?

"The Ellen DeGeneres" had singer Pharell Williams on the show and he talked to Ellen DeGeneres about the homophobic comments of gospel singer Kim Burrell. Burrell was supposed to sing a song on the show of DeGeneres alongside Williams but it will no longer take place.

Burrell used the words "perverted" and "the homosexual spirit" during a sermon last week. The video was uploaded online and she has since received backlash. She and Williams were supposed to sing "I've Seen A Victory" from the 2016 flick "Hidden Figures." DeGeneres announced earlier this week that Burrell will no longer be performing for the Thursday episode of the show. Williams still appeared and instead of performing the song, they discussed love and acceptance after Burrell's comments against the LGBTQ community, Time reported.

Williams said in a statement that there is no space or room for any kind of prejudice in 2017 and in the future. DeGeneres then told Williams that she once was discriminated upon because of her sexual orientation but because of that, she has learned to show others love and acceptance. DeGeneres added, "I don't want anyone to feel hurt because they are different." Williams then said that even when he disagrees with someone, he still wishes them the best and hopes for the best. DeGeneres ended the discussion by saying that he agrees with Williams.

Burrell was preaching at the Love & Liberty Fellowship Church and when confronted about the matter, she did not apologize and explained that her comments were misinterpreted. Billboard reported that she said that her enemies only posted a portion of original sermon.

Burrell added that she loves persons dealing with the homosexual spirit because God loves them as well. However, she said that God hates the sin both in the people with the homosexual spirit and in her as the homosexual spirit is against the nature of God.
