Glenn Kenny of RogerEbert.com and a top critic said that it is a well-crafted movie up to a point. But the end to which it is crafted is absolutely useless. A.O. Scott of New York Times and also a top critic has a different view. The movie The Ardennes unfolds with enough speed and wit to hold your attention.

Predictability has been one of the issues of the movie. As per Mark Jenkins of NPR and a top critic said that much of the action is grimly predictable and clearly derivative. Clayton Dillard of Slant Magazine is in agreement saying that its predictability lurches towards acts of extreme violence.
