Petronas Twin Towers & Great Barrier Reef As Inspirations For National Costumes In 65th Miss Universe Pageant?

One of the highlights of the annual Miss Universe pageant is the parade of each candidate donning their national costumes. Spoilers are now circulating a glimpse of several designs which some candidates are expected to wear in the upcoming pageant. Fans can see some familiar tourist spots as inspiration in the gowns of this year's candidates.

Photos of several designs of participating countries for the national costume category have floated. Viewers can now feast on some vibrant designs which will be displayed in the upcoming 65^th Miss Universe pageant.

The Great Barrier Reef will make some waves in the upcoming 65^th Miss Universe pageant. The Today Show posted on its Instagram account a photo displaying the national costume for Miss Universe Australia Caris Tiivel which was inspired by the famous reef. The gown carries the ocean colors of blues and pink depicting the coral reefs. The design was made to raise an awareness on the reality of coral bleaching.

A popular tourist spot landmarks, the Petronas Twin Towers were utilized as an inspiration in the national costume for Miss Universe Malaysia 2016 Kiran Jassal. The design escaped the usual long gown dresses, instead, this year's national costume from Malaysia was done in a skin-tone jumpsuit embroidered with silver gems. According to The Star, Designer Rizman Ruzaini used more than 100,000 Swarovski crystals as trimmings hand-sewn onto the costume. The highlight of the costume are the two silver towers on each shoulder, symbolizing the Petronas Twin Towers. The costume also features a crystal-encrusted choker which forms the iconic sky-bridge, laid out across the front upper chest connecting the two towers on each shoulder.

The reigning Miss Universe Malaysia 2016/2017 took to her Instagram account a photo of herself wearing this new design of Ruzaini. Her post details that the photo was taken during a Press Conference.
