Rico Rodriguez Of 'Modern Family' Grieves Over Dad's Sudden Death

"Modern Family" star Rico Rodriguez took to Instagram to talk about the passing of his father. Rodriguez's dad suddenly passed away at the age of 52 on March 12.

On his emotional and lengthy Instagram post, Rico said wrote that he considered his father, Roy Rodriguez, his very own superhero. The "Modern Family" star added his dad was the most kind-hearted, loving, hard-working, determined and funniest man he knew. He also explained why he considered his father as his superhero, saying the elder Rodriguez could make the best out of him day in and day out, People revealed.

The 18-year-old teenager added he will miss his dad's hugs, advises, smile and laugh. He concluded his post with, "I know you're looking down at us right now giving us the green light to move forward." He also said he will miss his father and he will love him forever. In the photo posted by the "Modern Family" star, the father and son bonded over milkshake but Rico did not reveal when the photo was taken.

A funeral for Roy took place on Saturday. The reason for his sudden death remained unknown as the circumstances surrounding his passing were not made public by the family.

The older sister of Rico, Raini Rodriquez, also took to social media to post about their father's death. Raini said it is difficult that their dad passed away but they remain standing tall because she knows he sent them guidance and strength all the way from heaven, as per Huffington Post.

Sofia Vergara, Rico's "Modern Family" co-star, also took to Twitter to send her condolences to the family. She directly tweeted Rico by saying a simple "I love you" along with a heart and rose emojis.

Rico plays Manny Delgado on "Modern Family." The show is currently in its eighth season. Meanwhile, Roy is survived by his wife Diane, Raini, Rico. Roy Jr. and Ray.
