'Final Fantasy 7' Remake Update: Delayed Release Date Due To PS4 Pro Overhaul? More Details Teased For February

While Square Enix continues to keep a tight lip about the "Final Fantasy 7" remake, new reports are suggesting that it won't be long before fans will hear new details about the new game. As game director and creator Tetsuya Nomura previously mentioned, they will not be releasing any new details about the "FF7" remake until they have unveiled "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" and now that the "Final Fantasy XV" release date is also on the horizon.

As Attack of the Fanboy recently reported, Nomura will be attending the Monaco Anime Game International Conference (MAGIC) on February 19, 2017. The publication noted that the stage has been set for Square Enix to give exclusive details about the "Final Fantasy 7" remake at the said event.

While developers have put a premium on the privacy of the "Final Fantasy 7"remake's progress, Nomura would occasionally indulge fans with new information about the title's new gameplay. As Vine Report noted, Nomura claimed that the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will have different mechanics as compared with the previous titles. He also stressed that his team is currently working hard to enhance the game even further.

He confirmed that the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will have a more action-based gameplay. However, the creator did claim that the new title will still have a few elements of the Active Time Battle (ATV) system, but will be perfectly combined with the new gameplay.

Meanwhile, there have been talks that the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will be directly released to the next gen consoles PS4 Pro and Nintendo NX. In a Reddit forum, a fan claimed that developers are currently working on a game overhaul to better match the specs of the new Sony console. He then claimed that this could be the reason why "Final Fantasy 7" remake was pushed to a 2017 release.

As for the Nintendo NX release, no concrete plans have been set on stone as of the moment. When asked about the possibility, Nomura claimed that they currently don't have any plans to release the "Final Fantasy 7" remake on the next gen console anytime soon.
