'Persona 5' Release Date, News & Update: Title Delayed Until Next Year But Will Include New Characters And New Modes

Atlus' upcoming role-playing video game, "Persona 5," is one of the most anticipated games of the time. "Persona 5" is set for a 2016 release, but new reports suggest that the release date is not final yet and the title may be moved until next year.

"Persona 5" Pushed Back to 2017

Ecumenical News reported that fans have been waiting for "Persona 5" since last year. Unfortunately, due to development concerns the title was delayed and was moved to summer 2016. Summer in Japan reportedly begins in mid-July to late August but until now, there is no definite date when "Persona 5" will be out, which triggers rumors that the title will be delayed again.

Meanwhile, CrossMap reported that "Persona 5" might be pushed back to 2017. Square Enix will be releasing their highly anticipated game, "Final Fantasy 15" in September and the competition will be stiff, so moving "Persona 5" until next year will be a great option.

"Persona 5" Will Come With New Modes

Although the wait for "Persona 5" will likely be extended, Atlus makes sure that the wait will be worth it. Per the report, the title will come with the following modes:

Cooperation mode - this mode enables gamers to connect through social links to build relationship with non-playable character to gain benefits

Sneak mode - as the name suggests, players have the advantage in this mode because they can avoid new elements when they are in the dungeons

All-out-attack mode - this mode allows players to combine attack when the opponent is knocked down. This feature has been featured in "Persona 3" already and is expected to return in "Persona 5"

New Characters In "Persona 5"

Per the report, there will be four main characters in "Persona 5" but the main protagonist is The Phantom. The Phantom wears a bird mask and uses knives and pistols. He is a classier version of Lupin in "Persona 5."

"Persona 5" will also feature Ryuki Sakamoto, who wears a skull mask and uses shotguns and bludgeoning weapons. Meanwhile, Anne Takamaki a blonde girl and The Phantom's classmate. She likes wearing a cat mask and uses whips and machine guns.

Morgana is another important character in "Persona 5." Per Siliconera, Morgana is full of mystery. Her height is like that of a child, but she can shift to a cat and transform into a human form. She is a significant figure in "Persona 5" because of her connection to the Seven Deadly Sins.
