Toddler Best Friends from Viral Video Featured in Fashion Campaign to Raise Funds

Toddler best friends Maxwell Hanson and Finnegan McKenna are featured in a clothing campaign to raise funds for charity. The two captured the hearts of millions of people with their viral video last year; they are seen hugging each other in the video.

Toddler best friends hugging in a viral video

In September, Hanson and McKenna became social media stars after their footage became viral. Millions of people viewed the video of them running towards one another for a hug. Take into account America's current conflict with race relations and equality, and the video becomes more exceptional due to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Athleisure brand "Boy Meets Girl" featured the toddler best friends. Its goal is to promote antiracism. The brand shows the boys on a collection of shirts and sweaters that features photos from their viral video. Sales proceeds will go to "From Privilege to Progress's National Movement." The foundation focuses on the desegregation of conversation about race and racism. It was started by two women who filmed the unjust arrest of black men at a Starbucks in 2018.

"Boy Meets Girl" sent their statement to People about the items they created. It wrote that being inspired by the viral video, their goal is racial justice because they want to help work toward a brighter future. It also stated that too many people living in a racist society had suffered terrible consequences. Now is the time to shoulder responsibility and to fight for racial justice.

McKenna's mom stands up for racial justice

The white kid's mom, Erica McKenna, shared her thoughts on the company's plan. She said that in every area of our lives, we must continue to fight for social justice. For her, there is a chance to make a difference every time we voice out. She is hoping that the shirts could unite people of all races. She calls out to all the privileged people to speak up against racism in every form.

McKenna said that "From Privilege to Progress" has shown her what it looks like to #ShowUp for the black people. She is also hoping that their support could reach more anti-racist people with their education and guidance.

The partnership happened after President Donald Trump posted an edited version of the video. In the video, the white kid seemed like running away from Hanson. Displayed below the video were words "Terrified [toddler] runs from racist baby." Twitter has already removed the video.

Hanson's father shares how he feels

Hanson's father, Michael Cisneros, said that he now feels the fear that parents with black kids have. He said that he thinks about his son and all the other black kids. He knows how it feels not to see his son go back home because of his skin color.

He feels lucky to have a platform to use for the change that is needed right now. He collaborated with the shirt brand to stand up against racism. Finally, he said that they would do everything to make everyone's child have a safe future.
