'NBA 2K16' Review PS4 Xbox One: Characters Are As Real As It Gets; Gameplay Includes 'Play Now' Online Mode [Details]

For NBA fans who are very much excited with the basketball simulation video game NBA 2K16, the developers are working on making the games better. New reports suggest that the upcoming title will include the "Play Now" online mode.

"NBA 2K16" will feature an all-new "Play Now" online mode, which will give gamers an online ranking system for Head to Head and Team Up games. The new system will come with 10 new created leagues where gamers can complete goals and move up to the seed, Design&Trend reports.

According to The Christian Post, the brand new "Play Now" online mode is for serious gamers. One needs to consistently win the games and complete the goals to move up in the seed and get into the finals.

On the other hand, the 10 leagues that gamers have to climb up includes Freshman, where gamers will start up, Junior Varsity, Varsity, Junior College, College Development, Euro League, NBA, Hall of Fame, and Greatest of All Time, MNR Daily reports.

Every game played online will be ranked accordingly, which means every win or lose matters as it will be taken into account and will affect the overall ranking within each league. This will be an additional challenge to players as they cannot just advance their ranks by the sheer number of games they play.

Aside from the new online mode, the off-court presentation has received an impressive level of detail with TNT-style pregame, halftime and postgame shows featuring Ernie Johnson, Shaquielle O'Neal and Kenny Smith. The report suggests that the trio's jesting were as natural as their critically acclaimed "Inside the NBA" show where Shaq and Kenny knit their humor and insight while Johnson delivers the highlights.

The on-court action is called by Kevin Harlan, Clark Kellogg and Greg Anthony with Doris Burke doing sideline interviews during halftime and after the game. The said interviews feature real sound bites from the game's biggest stars, which add immersion of the broadcast, Fox Sports reports.

In the previous installment of the series, control has always been a concern. Pulling off a combination of dribbling moves do not exactly show what one expected to see. Howev, "NBA 2K16" may solve this issue by eliminating input lag.

"Crossovers, between-the-legs and behind-the back dribbling moves feel more responsive. Post-up moves like jump hooks, turnaround fadeaways and shoulder fakes are much easier to pull off because the controls are tighter," the report said.

The characters are more alive, individual offenses are more fresh and engaging. Over all, the fluidity and authenticity in the gameplay is unmatched.

"NBA 2K16," the 17th installment in the NBA 2K series will be released tomorrow, Sept. 29 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC.
