'Scandal' Season 5 News: Actress Kerry Washington Worried About Cancer Diagnosis? Drawing Motherhood Inspirations From Oliva Pope Role

"Scandal" star Kerry Washington plays a sought-after fixer who has a handle on her life on her TV show, but in real life, the actress is reportedly a bottle of nerves. The fear of developing cancer is allegedly stressing her out.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Kerry is obsessed about cancer and worries that she may die because of it.

"Kerry has been ultra-diligent about getting regular check-ups, mammograms, and screenings, but all of the fear and anxiety is putting an added strain on her immune system. But she still can't shake the dread that she will one day be diagnosed with cancer. All the stress is rough on her health," the source said.

The news outlet also reported that Kerry's mom is a cancer survivor, which gives the actress all the more reason to worry as the cancer is in her genes. The TV star and her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, are said to be in marriage counselling as the couple argue about her obsession.

Meanwhile, the "Scandal" actress recently talked to Entertainment Weekly about how she draws inspirations on becoming a mother from her TV character, Olivia Pope.

"She really has taught me to be resilient and to be able to juggle a lot at once," the actress, who has a one-year-old daughter, said. "Being able to juggle those days and juggle those hours and be the No. 1 on the call sheet and all of that—it really opened me up to the possibility of going outside of my comfort zone in terms of what I thought was possible in a lot of ways," Kerry added.

Kerry admitted that like all other working mothers, it's not always easy. ''Well, last season was my first real experience of working with Isabelle. Honestly, it's no joke! It's the real deal," she said, according to Yahoo.

Kerry is thankful that she has an understanding boss, "Scandal's" creator Shonda Rhimes. "One of the greatest things about having her as a boss is that she is a woman who really understands. She's a mother and has four shows, along with three kids," said Kerry.

The actress also tries her best not to expose her baby or her family life to the press. In fact, there's hardly any photos of little Isabelle in the news. "You know, I'm a really private person, and I feel like at some point you will [see her], but for now it is what it is," the actress said, according to Page Six.
