Kate Hudson Reveals Goldie Hawn and Kurt Rusell's Secret to Having a Happy Family

Kate Hudson, and his brother, Oliver Hudson, call their parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, "amazing parents," a considerable feat for celebrity couples.

Oliver said that despite being born to famous parents, their family is typical at home. "...within the four walls, it was a very normal family. Because they came from where they came from - which was nothing - they understood that and wanted to instill those values."

Kate said that her parents shared the same values. The couple has kids from other relationships, and the family became a melting pot of a family. Goldie had two kids from her previous relationships, Oliver and Kate. Kurt had a son, Boston, from his previous marriage. They share a son, Wyatt Rusell. Besides their children, Rusell and Hawn are also grandparents to six grandkids.

When her mom and Kurt Russell dated, Kate Hudson was only six years old. Kate and her brother are estranged from her father, Bill Hudson. Russell raised both Kate and Oliver. Hawn said he was natural at getting along with them, earning him the father status in their eyes. Kate and Oliver consider Russell their "Pa."

Putting the family first

According to Kate, her mother and Russell shared the same value of putting the family first.

"Other than obviously balancing their careers, it became their life purpose: We will have the best family," Kate said.

Although the couple vowed not to marry, the couple has been together since Kate was six years old. The couple has been together since. Hawn revealed that the couple spends about "68% of their time together" because, for them, it is a sign of a healthy relationship.

The couple also believes and works had to keep things interesting for themselves. They do not settle on just sitting around the house but exploring their variety of hobbies. Their interests involve hiking, biking, and wine tasting. They also do movie projects together.

Russell said that their four decades together were not easy. Like everyone else, they have gone through all the experiences and emotions that couples can go through. Amidst triumphs and disappointments, they raised four children and are now enjoying life to the fullest.

Keeping their romance alive

Hawn and Rusell first met in 1966, 17 years before dating. Hawn was 16, and Rusell was 21 then. Back then, Hawn revealed that she immediately liked Russell.

Years later, they met again, and the first thing he said to Hawn when they met after almost two decades was he complimented her. The attraction was instant, and they started dating then.

When things get tough, Hawn said they relive their romance by watching the movies that they made together. The couple starred in Overboard, a classic rom-com that highlighted their chemistry.

"You know how sometimes you forget why you fell in love? I remembered everything and why I fell in love. It was really something to be able to watch that."
