More stimulus payments for eligible families are set for distribution in four U.S. locations due to surpluses in the state's budget and a funding boost from the federal government. Some of these payments will be sent automatically through direct deposits or checks in the mail, with no more action from beneficiaries.

California, Florida, Indiana, and New York will be giving cash incentives to some of its residents, but who are eligible for these stimulus payments? Below is a rundown.

California

Republican State Sen. Brian Jones said that California has more than $45.7 billion of budget surplus that will allow every Californian to receive a tax rebate of $1,125 or at least $4,500 per family of four. California's Proposition 4, also known as the Gann Limit, provides lawmakers the option to roll out the extra funds through rebates.

According to KTLA, California has only applied Gann Limit two times since it was established in 1979. One of these times was in 2021, during the pandemic, with the Golden State Stimulus payments release.

California Gov. Gavin Newson confirmed that the state has indeed reached a surplus higher than the estimated, implying that stimulus payments for Californians will "likely" come in the coming months or before the next fiscal year in July 2022.

Florida

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has proposed another round of stimulus payments of $1,000 for teachers. Last year, more than 175,000 Florida teachers and about 3,600 principals received the cash boost due to the state's budget surplus.

The stimulus payment for the teachers is part of the governor's "Freedom First Budget" that will help pre-school to K-12 teachers. Aside from the stimulus payment, DeSantis is also hoping to raise the minimum wage for teachers in the state if the House and the Senate approve.

Indiana

Indiana taxpayers who file their latest tax return before April 2022 will receive a $125 refund from the state government. Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb announced the incentive in December 2021 and estimated that the total refund would be up to $545 million. This means that some 910,000 taxpayers will receive the cash boost.

Rep. Todd Huston said they are working with the governor's office to streamline the rollout. Taxpayers will not have to enroll or sign up for this stimulus payment as it will be sent automatically based on their records with the Department of Revenue (DOR). Hoosiers last received a similar cash boost in 2013.

New York

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul will apply the Excluded Workers Fund to give some 90,000 New Yorkers a cash boost. This stimulus payment is eligible for those who lost their jobs and made less than $26,208 during the pandemic but never received any government money because of their immigration status.

However, there are also calls to expand the qualifications or eligibility, allowing the government to reopen the program for more residents. The EWF comes in the form of a debit card that beneficiaries need to apply for through the state's Department of Labor.
