Richaun Holmes, Sacramento Kings center, has been accused by his ex-wife of domestic violence toward their six-year-old son. Allexis Holmes, who has been divorced from her husband since September 2019, has accused Richaun Holmes of taking out his frustration on their son, causing him to bleed due to a blow to the head during his February 6 visitation, NBC Sports said.

The Sacramento Kings announced last week that their center, Richaun Holmes, was leaving the team for the remainder of the season due to "personal reasons." The announcement left the fans confused about what these personal reasons may be until this recent development, according to Sacramento Bee.

Domestic violence accusation

Allexis claimed that their son is now scared of leaving their house in fear of seeing his father. A court order had asked Richuan to stay at least 100 yards away from his son. He is also scheduled to appear in Sacramento County court on March 30.

Allexis also said that their son suffered from a bruise and contusion in his forehead and marks on his legs.

According to court documents, the child has ADHD, and Richaun Holmes does not accept the diagnosis. The ex-wife also said he emotionally abuses him, makes fun of his mannerisms, and attempts to bully and intimidate their son.

The King's center denied the allegations in a series of since-deleted tweets. Richaun, on one of his now-deleted tweets, said that his son adores him, and he also adores him. On March 24, Richaun posted a picture of him and his son, saying, "they could never tear us apart no matter what they try."

Meanwhile, Richaun Holmes' mother, Lydia Holmes, tweeted, "Those who believe in the crap about his son, God help you," Fox40 wrote.

She also emphasized that Richaun loves his son, and everything was an attempt to discredit his son from keeping the child's custody.

Statement of Sacramento Kings

On Wednesday, the Sacramento Kings released a statement on the issue.

The organization said that it expresses its strong stance against any form of assault and domestic violence. Nonetheless, the organization added that it would respect the legal process and continue monitoring the situation.

In August last year, Holmes signed a four-year, $46 million contract extension to be with the team until 2025.

In the 2021-2022 season, the center averaged 10.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 23.9 minutes per game in 45 games. He also had 37 starts in his third season with the team.

Meanwhile, social media had various reactions, with some supporting Richaun while the others were supporting Allexis and the child.

A netizen commented that the comments in the thread emphasize how little "our society values women."

To which, a King fan Cora Myers tweeted, saying that she would hate to be in Allexis' position as there would always be an ugly uphill battle for her. She posted that there will always be fans who will adore Richaun, and these fans would have a fervent hope that he is the man they think he is.
