A 6-year-old kindergartner saved her father's life when he had trouble breathing and passed out in their basement. Macie Semrau had the presence of mind when her father gave the passcode to his phone that allowed the girl to open up a Google search to type in "poliz" so she could get help.

According to Boston 25, Marcie was calm while talking on the phone to the Eliot Police in Maine. She was also able to provide the right address and her dad's age.

Within two minutes after her call, the first responders were at their house attending to Kyle Semrau, who had ongoing issues with his sinuses and lungs.

Macie Semrau Feared Her Dad Was Going to Die

Macie recounted how she saved her father and admitted that she thought he would die. On the other hand, Kyle saw his search history after he was feeling better and found the words "Elliot poliz" on his phone's browser. He has no plans of deleting this search history for some time.

His daughter told him that there was a call button next to the word, so she tapped on that, which went straight to the emergency dispatcher. Judy Smith from the Eliot Police Department answered the call.

Smith told Seacoast Online that she was impressed with Macie's calmness and decisiveness. The 6-year-old knew how to answer all the emergency dispatcher's questions; thus, they were able to reach the house in record time.

Caleb, Macie's 4-year-old brother, remembered that his sister also made sure to close the door from the basement so that dogs would not rush out when help from the police arrived. Caleb said that Smith heard him crying, but the woman on the phone said it would be OK.

The kindergartener was not supposed to be at home because she had school that day. However, Kyle had been away for a job and was feeling lightheaded. Macie, dressed and ready to go to school, decided to stay home and be with her dad and brother.

That day also happened to be the death anniversary of the grandmother of Kyle's wife. Eliot Police Chief Elliot Moya said it looked like the stars aligned for this family to ensure that the father would still be out of harm's way.

'Teach your kids emergency scenarios'

In a Facebook post, Kyle posted an update to say that he's doing well and thanked those who reached out to him after he spent a few days at the hospital for his sinus issues. He also said that his daughter likely saved his life and told his friends to teach their kids stuff that the schools will probably not cover, such as an emergency scenario.

The father also shared that he and his wife limit their children's screen time, but Macie can access the gadgets for reading or checking math equations. Once in a while, she gets a message from her dad to have a nice day when he's off at work.
