Hollywood legend Robin Williams' children remembered him on the eighth anniversary of his death. The "Good Will Hunting" and "Mrs. Doubtfire" star's son, Zak Williams, posted a touching message on Thursday, August 11, that was both humorous and loving.

Zak paid tribute to the comedy legend on social media platform Twitter, reminiscing on how incredibly kind and joyful his dad was, Yahoo reported.

The 39-year-old Zak, from Williams' first marriage, added that he deeply misses his dad, who is a wonderful, hairy man and will be celebrating his life today. He concluded his message by saying that he loves him so much.

Zelda honors dad with a quote from a famous Japanese writer

Zelda Williams, from the Hollywood star's second marriage and was his only daughter, posted a quote from Japanese writer Haruki Murakami's novel "Kafka on the Shore" in her tribute to her dad.

The 33-year-old "Lisa Frankenstein" director wrote that once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through or managed to survive. Zelda added that you wouldn't even be sure whether the storm is over, but one thing is certain: you won't be the same person who walked in when you come out of the storm.

Zelda also shared a thread with suicide prevention resources in her message, according to the New York Post. She added that she does not ask for much, but if she may, she asked those who read her post to be gentle with their hearts today.

The Academy Award winner, who was also father to 30-year-old Cody, died by suicide at his home in Tiburon, California, on August 11, 2014. He was 63 years old at the time of his death. The comedy icon had been misdiagnosed with early stages of Parkinson's disease before he died.

Williams died due to Lewy body dementia

An autopsy later revealed Williams unknowingly had Lewy body dementia (LBD), a brain disorder that causes a decline in reasoning, thinking, and independence. William's third wife, Susan Williams, told ABC News in an interview the following year that Lewy body dementia was what killed her husband. She added that it took his life, and that is what she spent the last year trying to get to the bottom of, what took her husband's life.

Tributes to Williams extended beyond his family, including one from Hollywood star Jessica Chastain. He annually granted two student scholarships at Juilliard, and Chastain was a recipient of the honor. Getting the scholarship meant the "Tree of Life" star was able to be the first person in her family to graduate college.

Chastain, who has gone on to capture her own Academy Award, called Williams a prince among men and said she owes so much to this kind-hearted giant. She concluded her post by saying she is thinking of him and his generosity today.
