Say Goodbye to Wet Diapers with App 'Huggies TweetPee'

New moms often struggle to find out exactly when their baby's diaper gets wet and needs a change. It is well-known that a soggy diaper can be extremely harmful for the newborn, exposing him/her to many health problems caused by bacteria growth. A new product, the Huggies TweetPee sensor, is capable of informing parents about the diaper-status, by sending a Tweet every time it gets wet.

Diapers bring comfort to the baby and convenience to parents. However, diaper rash is a common occurrence among babies who wear diapers frequently, causing discomfort and distress to both child and parent.

The TweetPee sensor recently launched by Huggies, a Kimberly-Clark brand, in Brazil, can be attached to the diaper and alerts parents about the wet diaper by sensing humidity, MSN News reported.

Apart from that, the device helps parents get a clear idea of the total number of diapers that will be needed, by tracking the number of diapers used and informing on time, Adverblog reported. However, according to the report, though the idea of getting an alert on time to change the dirty diaper is good, questions about the safety of the device that will be attached to the baby the whole day are still to be answered.

The product is yet to reach U.S. markets.

Apart from the Huggies TweetPee, two Canadian nurses have developed another iOS app named 'NuuNest' that gives parents expert advice on newborn care. Cindy Leclerc and Jana Stockham, who have been in the field of nursing from 1995, are the brains behind the innovation.

Available for download in the App Store for $4.99, the app can give accurate information on the frequency of feeding the baby, diaper change and also tips to take care of the baby better. It is scheduled to be presented at the Canadian Public Health Association Conference, Ottawa next month, website Newstalk 650 reported.
