Law & Order: SVU Season 17 Spoilers: Duggar-Inspired Episode Coming, Squad To Investigate Reality TV Family Like '19 Kids And Counting'

With all the controversies and scandals circling around the Duggar family, it is only a matter of time that their story is picked up for a small or big screen adaptation. E! Online reports that for "Law & Order: SVU" season 17, the NBC police drama is adapting the story of the famous family, known for their reality show "19 Kids and Counting," and putting their own spin on it.

USA Today notes that "Law & Order: SVU" has made a name for itself by ripping headlines and converting them into storylines. This has lasted for 17 seasons, and the Duggar controversy is no exception for the show's writers. Titled "Patrimonial Burden," the story centers on a fundamentalist Christian family that has gained popularity through a reality TV show. However, behind the camera lies a web of family secrets and lies. When news breaks that their 13-year-old daughter is pregnant, the "Law & Order" squad takes matter in their own hands.

A previous report from E! Online has foreshadowed the upcoming Duggar episode. Raúl Esparza, who plays ADA Barba on "Law & Order: SVU," previously said to the news outlet, "I'm sure they're coming our way. I don't think there's any way the writers room will stay away from it, but who knows what form it's going to take. It won't be that exact…Ultimately, it's got to stay fiction and got to stay engaging. We don't want to recreate what you just lived through because—we'll never live up to reality because reality's getting really bizarre."

USA Today states that the Duggar's controversy earlier this year is a jackpot plot material for the show as it hits all the spots and has a lot of juicy materials. It can be remembered that earlier this year, the fiasco started when reports surfaced that Josh Duggar has sexually molested your girls during his teenage years, two of which are his sisters, Jessa and Jill Duggar. However, even though his parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, were aware of their son's exploitations, they kept it hidden in the closet until the statute of limitations expired.

However, the controversy did not end there. When the infidelity website, Ashley Madison, was hacked, Josh Duggar's name was again put in the spotlight as it was revealed that he had two accounts and was spending almost $1,000 for cheating and website services. It was also found out that Josh Duggar, despite being married and having four kids with wife Anna Duggar, kept a hidden Facebook account where he would hook up with strippers and models, per a previous Parent Herald report.

To see more about the Duggar family's juiciest secrets, and how "Law & Order: SVU" will put its own spin to it. Watch "Patrimonial Burden" on Nov. 4 at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
