Emilia Clarke Named Esquire's 'Sexiest Woman Alive' -- GOT Star's Interview & Photos Here!

In addition to all the awards, recognitions and records that the hit HBO series "Game Of Thrones" has garnered in its five seasons on air, the team behind "GOT" has got one new accomplishment, they've got on their squad, Esquire's "Sexiest Woman Alive".

Playing the role of the "Mother of Dragons," the 28-year-old actress was given the title for this year. CNN notes that the British star graces the cover of the magazine in a half-clothed photo as well as various states of sultriness in the magazine issue.

In the interview with Esquire, the "Terminator: Genisys" admits not being knowledgeable of the George RR Martin book series, "A Song Of Ice AndFire". She shared she had to do a bit of online research before actually auditioning for the role.

"And then my agent calls me up and says, 'Did you ever go up for Game of Thrones?' " She shares that the pilot was already filmed but there was dissatisfaction so HBO was looking into the casting pile. "My agent told the casting director, 'I know that the breakdown for this character is tall and willowy and blonde. I know she's short and round and brown, but I'd like you to see her.' "

"I had two scenes which told me nothing and not very much time in which to read all those (George R.R. Martin) books," she recalled. "So I did what every good actor does and Wikipedia'd the living crap out of it."

She knew what was expected of her in the role, Clarke recalled how they wanted "someone who could grow before your eyes in one season, who could gather strength and show vulnerability, they wanted the arc..."

The publication refers to Emilia as someone who brings together a number of opposites. Her talents and natural charismatic personality allow her to exude "sweetness and toughness, emotionalism with a kind of cold-blooded determination. Something in these contrasts explains her sex appeal, too. She can play queen and kid sister, dominatrix and pal."

No matter how it all began, the rest is history.

Other women who have laid claim to the annual honor are celebrities like Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson.
