19-Year-Old Arrested in St. Louis Sibling Murders, Lyft Ride Unveils Shocking Details

On Sunday, tragic sibling deaths in Missouri occurred. The incident unfolded in St. Louis County as a woman and her brother succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds, according to authorities.

Lamarr Harris, a 19-year-old resident of Florissant, was swiftly apprehended and charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the shooting.

Currently detained on a $750,000 cash-only bond, Harris faces legal proceedings related to the heartbreaking event.

St. Louis Sibling Murder Case

A 19-year-old from Florissant, Lamarr Harris, has been charged by St. Louis County Police in connection with the tragic sibling deaths in Missouri deaths of siblings Marc Rhodes, 19, and Lanija Cooper, 20.

According to authorities, Harris allegedly utilized a Lyft ride to and from the victims' residence, where a fatal altercation ensued.

Law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting in Midland, situated approximately 18 miles west of St. Louis, early Sunday morning. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man and a woman, later identified as the siblings, suffering from gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigative efforts unveiled that Harris, previously romantically linked to Cooper, harbored suspicions regarding her involvement in an incident concerning his new girlfriend's vandalized car tires. This suspicion allegedly prompted Harris to utilize a Lyft service to reach the victims' home in St. Louis County on Sunday morning.

A confrontation with Cooper's brother, Marc, escalated, resulting in a fatal gunshot wound to Marc. The ongoing investigation has led to Harris facing charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with this heartbreaking incident.

Lyft Involvement in Murder Case

Harris and Rhodes engaged in a heated argument, leading to Rhodes striking Harris in the face, according to court documents. After being struck, the defendant drew his weapon and fired at Rhodes, the statement detailed. Rhodes succumbed to his injuries.

In a prior police statement, it was revealed that the female victim, later identified as Cooper, was discovered nearby with a fatal gunshot wound. Both siblings tragically lost their lives at the crime scene.

A neighbor recounted providing investigators with a description of the suspect. They were informed by detectives that the individual had arranged for a rideshare. He utilized it and had another rideshare waiting for a quick exit.

The police noticed his behavior getting into a vehicle, which raised suspicions. Consequently, they stopped the car and detained the driver, as the neighbor mentioned.

The same neighbor attempted to assist the victims but arrived too late. "By time I got there, it was too late. There was nothing I could do. They both sustained shots to their side and their organs. There was no putting on a tourniquet, nothing, it was already too late," he lamented.

A police spokesperson disclosed that the suspect endeavored to flee the scene in a rideshare vehicle but was promptly intercepted by responding officers, who took him into custody.

"The police observed him entering a vehicle, which seemed suspicious. Hence, they halted the vehicle and detained the driver," another neighbor informed a local news outlet.
