Last month, at Children's Hospital Colorado, the family of a four-year-old boy named Cartier McDaniel gathered to bid him goodbyes after his heart had ceased beating for hours.

Doctors Placed 4-Year-Old on Life Support

Despite their prayers and vigilance at his bedside, doctors informed Cartier's parents, Destiny Anderson, and Dominique McDaniel, that his life support was nearing its limit without a heartbeat.

Despite their attempts to revive him, including CPR, his heart remained still, leaving his parents in doubt and anguish. Yet, in a remarkable turn of circumstances, Cartier's heart instinctively began beating again after a shocking 19-hour hiatus, defying medical explanation.

While doctors remained not available for comment, Cartier's parents associate his astonishing recuperation with divine intervention, seeing it as nothing short of a proof of God's power.

Cartier's health issues began with a fever, initially dismissed as a common cold, before immediately declining the next day. Symptoms worsened, indicating a serious disease, resulting in his eventual cardiac arrest. Emergency measures were taken, but Cartier's condition continued to deteriorate due to an illness, eventually leading to sepsis.

Placed on life support, his parents faced the excruciating reality of his forthcoming death, preparing to say their final goodbyes. Despite the grim prediction, Cartier's heart surprisingly continued beating, allowing a glimmer of hope amid the despair.

While Cartier's survival defied the odds, his journey to recovery remains uncertain. Despite initial concerns about probable blindness and organ damage, his parents hold onto hope for his eventual discharge from the hospital, though the road ahead is full of difficulties.

Reflecting on the suffering, Cartier's parents deal with feelings of remorse and what-ifs but ultimately find comfort in their faith and the mysterious twist of fate that spared their son's life.

Boy Acquired Virus, Became Suddenly Ill Before Heart Stopped

Destiny Anderson and Dominique McDaniel, Cartier's parents, were alarmed by his sudden illness, as he had been a lively child who enjoyed playing and running.

Describing the moment when the seriousness of Cartier's condition became possible, Dominique recalled the frightening experience of hearing the doctor's declaration of his son's breathlessness.

Destiny recounted the morning of the circumstances, detailing Cartier's beginning symptoms, including high fever, chills, frequent urination, extreme thirst, and unusual lethargy.

Concerned, they rushed him to the emergency room at Children's Hospital Colorado as his breathing became labored.

Upon arrival, Cartier quickly went into cardiac arrest, plunging his parents into panic. Dr. Aline Maddux, an associate professor of pediatrics involved in Cartier's care, described the dire situation when his heart ceased beating and efforts to revive it proved unsuccessful, instilling fear for his survival.

Initially diagnosed with strep A, a typically minor bacterial infection, Cartier's condition deteriorated as sepsis developed, leading to organ failure. Despite administering CPR and placing him on ECMO life support, designed for patients with compromised lung and heart function, Cartier showed no signs of improvement, maintaining no heartbeat even after a night on life support.

Destiny recalled her overwhelming emotions-fear, shock, and guilt-as she watched her son lying lifeless in the ICU. After 13 hours of grappling with the looming possibility of Cartier's passing, the family decided to gather at the hospital to bid their final farewells.

Finding strength in her faith and supported by Dominique, Destiny encouraged her son to commune with God, believing it was time for Cartier to seek divine intervention.
