'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Episode 5 Spoilers: Character Reveal Happening, Will Howard's Dad To Be Introduced? [Rumors]

With nine seasons under "The Big Bang Theory's" belt, many characters have come and gone but one that remains a mystery is the identity and background of Howard's father. 

One of the main characters of the show is Howard Wolowitz, played by Simon Helberg, and in the previous season, the engineer lost his character mother Debbie (Carol Ann Susi). While the plot has allowed him to meet his half brother, Helberg has confirmed that he'd like the opportunity to meet his character's father. 

Cinema Blend reports that the CBS star revealed:

"I think it would be nice to potentially meet his dad. I like it when the writers get deep because it's hard to do that on a sitcom without hearing the cheesy violin or having that special episode feeling, and they do it so well and I love getting to learn about this character I've played and known for over seven years, and getting to discover things I never knew."

While nothing has been confirmed by the showrunners or other executives related to the show, Simon continued saying, "I don't write the show, I don't create any of those aspects so I get a script, open it and find out his dad abandoned him. It's interesting. I can't wait to see what they've got for us," quoted the Press Association (via MSN).

Another major development in the character life of Howard becoming a real-life astronaut but he says once is enough for him. "I don't need to go back to space," he joked.

In the new episode of TBBT titled, "The Perspiration Implementation," two of Sheldon Cooper's (Jim Parsons) co-workers have expressed interest in the the genius' ex-girlfriend Amy (Mayim Bialik) which leads to Cooper having to square off in a duel, notes the IB Times.

The official synopsis of the upcoming episode airs on Monday, Oct. 19 on CBS:

"The guys take a fencing lesson from Barry Kripke and Sheldon finds himself in an awkward position when Kripke expresses interest in Amy. Also, when Stuart struggles to get female customers at the Comic Book Store, Penny, Amy and Bernadette come by to help him out."
