'Samsung Galaxy View' Price, Design Leaked Online! 18-Inch Tab Cheaper Than iPad Pro? [Release Date & Specs]

Just when you thought that the iPad Pro and the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 have wide screens, Korean tech giant Samsung comes in with the Galaxy View, a tablet with a huge 18.4-inch display. How's that for wide?

Engadget reports that the humongous tablet had its design leaked, courtesy of Twitter user Evan Blass (@Evleaks), which shows that it's really huge, and it has a kickstand much like the Surface Pro. It will also sell cheaper than the most basic iPad Pro.

According to GSM Arena, the huge tablet is powered by the Exynos 7580 SoC chip, that clocked at up to 1.6GHz. This is an octa-core processor, with four Cortex-A57 and four Cortex-A53 cores. It comes with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB thanks to microSD support.

A front-mounted 2.1-megapixel camera that has FullHD video recording capacity has been included. Sadly, there's no rear-mounted camera.

The Galaxy View has different connectivity models: one comes equipped with quad-band 3G and Cat.6 LTE, and there's also a basic, Wi-Fi only model that's available. The View also has Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.

The huge tablet is backed by a 5,700mAh battery, with which it promises to give users 8.5 hours of video playback.

GSM Arena reports that the Galaxy View is going to be another kitchen tablet, following after the Alcatel OneTouch Xess which came a few months ago, and the Sony Tablet Z Kitchen Edition which came in years ago. This is probably due to its wide 18.4-inch display that comes with FullHD resolution, at a density of 120ppi, making it good for viewing from afar. This might help moms get recipes online, or watch their fave shows while preparing dinner; or dad who wants to see the ball game while preparing some romantic dinner for the wife.

According to Phandroid, the Galaxy View has been listed on Adorama and B&H, priced at $600 for the 32GB model. However, the listings were not meant for actual purchasing, but on preordering the huge tablet. Although is may be quite pricey at $600 for the 32GB model, it still comes cheaper than the 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro which is priced at $800 for the 32GB model.

Excited buyers and Samsung fans will have to wait for it's official release.
