'The Walking Dead' Season 6: Glenn is The New Sophia? Search For Character Central To The Plot? [Report]

It's the sixth season of Walking Dead, and fans have been shocked at what appeared to be the death of one core character who has been in the series almost from the start.

Glenn hasn't returned from Rick's zombie herding experiment and was seen last week surrounded by a horde of zombies after his partner Nicholas shot himself in the head. Apparently, following TWD's gory death fashion, he could have been munched to death by the walkers.

However, Paul Tassi of Forbes informed that it is possible that he is still alive and that he will still be seen despite the fact that it is hard to imagine Glenn escaping an impending gory death coming from a horde of zombies.

AMC doesn't even give much clue and seems to tease fans by taking out Steven Yeun's name out of the credits -- which appears after Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus -- in the opening sequence.

Tassi added that Glenn might be treated like Sophia, an early character who surprised many fans.

Sophia, Carol's daughter, was the focal point in season two. She was separated from the whole group when zombies attacked, and then the whole season had the group looking for her. Without the group's knowledge, she was already near them, although hidden inside Herschel's barn as a zombie.

What followed then was one of the series' most powerful scenes: Carol's surprise in seeing her daughter as an undead, and Rick's shooting of the unfortunate girl. This is even more shocking to both TV viewers and comic book readers, as Sophia still lives up till now.

If this idea holds true, then fans will see Glenn's whereabouts a key plot for this season, as well as his wife Maggie.

Deadline reported that Glenn will still be seen in the series, and some behind-the-scenes people are making things more open ended as to his fate in the story.

“In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story to help complete the story,” Chris Hardwick, "Talking Dead" host, read out in a message from the showrunner after the cliffhanger “Thank You” episode.

The entertainment news outlet adds that a teaser showed Michonne telling Maggie that if Glenn got stuck, “he would find a way to send us a signal.”

There's only one way to find out, and that is to keep tuned to AMC's “The Walking Dead.”
