'Fast and Furious 8' Release Date & Cast: Plot Includes Paul Walker Flashbacks Through CGI, Cody Walker Not Returning [Rumors]

The hype about the next installment of "Fast and Furious" is growing intense. In "Furious 7" the production team made a way to continue Paul Walker's character Brian O'Connor in the film after his untimely death. Will fans still see O'Connor in "Fast and Furious 8?"

Parent Herald previously reported that there will be no more CGI of Walker in "Fast and Furious 8." Although his character was not killed in the last installment, franchise producer Neal H. Mortiz announced that the character has moved on.

"We're lucky that we have a lot of great characters," Mortiz said. "Unfortunately, we don't have Paul anymore. His character... has moved on. But we feel like there's a lot still to be mined. That's where we'restarting. We're really talking about the characters, where they all sit right now. It's a huge challenge."

It's understandable that fans still yearn to see Walker in the popular street-racing film. After all, the team would never be complete without O'Connor. In fact, even his co-actors want the same, but all they can do at the time is to pay him tribute in their upcoming movie.

However, it seems that there are chances of seeing Walker's character in "Fast and Furious 8." In "Furious 7," Dominic Torreto and O'Connor part ways on the highway where they first meet. There are rumors that the character will be brought back in multiple flashback scenes through CGI, Yibada reported.

According to the report, the rumor started when it was reported that Jordana Brewster will be reprising her role. The actress plays as Mia, Torreto's sister and O'Connor's wife. Her inclusion in the upcoming action movie triggered the speculations that Walker's character will appear in flashbacks per Christian Post. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely to happen.

In "Furious 7" Walker's brother Cody Walker played as his body double but according to Cross Map he will not be returning in "Fast and Furious 8." Moreover, it is unlikely that Brewster's character will return.

In a separate report from Parent Herald, Michelle Rodriguez revealed that the sequel will be paying tribute to Walker. "[Paul] wanted to bring it back down to the core, which is the racing," she said. "He was always complaining about the special effects and the blue screens" and would want to put an end to "exaggerated explosions and crazy plot lines." They will keep it "true to Paul's wishes." So they are taking "Fast and Furious 8" back into street racing and set in New York.

"Fast and Furious 8" will premiere on April 14, 2017.
