'Prometheus 2' Trailer & News: Plot To Reveal Creator of Aliens, Says Ridley Scott -- What You Need To Know!

Director Ridley Scott revealed some tidbits of information about “Prometheus 2,” the sequel to “Prometheus,” which happens to be a prequel to the 1979 classic sci-fi horror film “Aliens.”

In an interview with IGN, Scott expressed some regret regarding sequels to the 1979 screamer. Then he explains that he wants “Prometheus” to get back where he wants it to be.

“I’m trying to keep this for myself. I let the other one [Alien] get away from me – I shouldn’t have… I’m trying to re-resurrect the beast and let if off the hook for a while because I’m coming back into the back-end of Alien 1. I’m gradually getting to Alien 1."

Fans of the classic film will be glad to see what's coming. Scott said that the sequel (which he names “Alien: Paradise Lost”) will get to answer questions.

“Prometheus 2 will start getting shot in February and I’ve already begun now so I know what the script is. Then there will be another one after that and then maybe we’ll back into Alien 1, as to why? Who would make such a dreadful thing?”

Slashfilm reported that Scott's plans for “Prometheus” is full of ambition, and the overall plot is “jaw-dropping on a technical level.”

Variety reported that Scott has enlisted the help of writer John Logan, who happens to be a three-time Academy Award nominee. His credits include “Gladiator,” “The Last Samurai,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Rango,” “Skyfall,” and the still-showing “Spectre.”

“Alien:Paradise Lost” appears to be a direct prequel to the “Alien” franchise, and will feature Noomi Rapace (who plays Dr. Elizabeth Shaw) and Michael Fassbender (who plays David).

Speaking with Gregory Ellwood at Awards Campaign, Scott revealed that they will continue their search for the Engineers' home planet, encountering a new group of people along the way.

“It’s going to be it’s own separate thing because they are going to the planet of the Engineers and they are going to see what happened there. It was a disaster. And they will be in that alien craft that takes them there, but with a new group that’s incoming, a new group of travelers in the beginning of the first act.”

Will Ellen Ripley be included? Fans will just have to wait and see for themselves what's going to happen.

“Prometheus 2,” or officially, “Alien: Paradise Lost” will be released on May 30, 2017.
