Floyd Mayweather News: Champ Slams 'Jealous' Oscar De La Hoya, Defends Ronda Rousey & Offers To Train Her in Boxing

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Ronda Rousey aren’t exactly the best of friends for those who have been following the potshots that both fighters have been taking at each other for the past year.

However all that seems to be just part of an act (and hype) as Mayweather calls it and when things get serious, he is ready to extend a helping hand even for someone who has thrown serious invectives his way.

Rousey is still trying to pick up the pieces from a crushing second round knockout defeat at the hands of Australian Holly Holm and the now-former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion is expectedly depressed with the shocking turn of events.

The 28-year-old former judoka-turned-MMA fighter has been riding high prior to UFC 193, feted as perhaps the best and an overwhelming favorite to win over a silent Holm. Unfortunately, she stumbled on someone who had a perfect game plan and a decorated career that was severely overlooked.

Regardless, Mayweather is ready to help Rousey out in case she would need it.

"I want Ronda Rousey to hold her head up high and don't let this discourage you. If you need help as far as with boxing, I'm here to help you," said Mayweather via Fighthype.com.

These words of encouragement are pretty surprising considering the magnitude of hatred that seemed to have build between the two in the last couple of months.

Seeing how proud Rousey is, it doesn’t seem likely that she would take Mayweather up on his offer for now as she tries to regroup and look forward for a rematch against Holm which will most likely take place at UFC 200 in July, according to the Bleacher Report.

On a different note, Mayweather has expected come out firing on Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya for that celebrated letter addressed to him on Playboy Magazine.

Speaking at MLive.com, Mayweather said that De La Hoya was technically placing himself in a spot when he called the undefeated American boxer a boring fighter to watch.

“I mean, this is the same guy, I’m so boring, but he fed all his fighters to me,” Mayweather said. “So it’s obvious he did it because it was all about the money for him.”

The two have been having their own word-war as of late, something that ironically involves Rousey who was featured as Ring Magazine’s cover for January, 2016, a publication run by De La Hoya.

Mayweather congratulated Rousey for that honor but at the same time said that doing so was not good for the sport of boxing.
