'Frozen 2' Plot & Trailer: Film To Feature LGBT Issues, Lead Character Rumored To Be Gay; Will It Be Elsa or Anna?

Fans are waiting for details about “Frozen 2,” the sequel to the movie that made sisters Anna and Elsa become famous, becoming a kid's favorite all around. Until now, because there's no specific official word on the plot, rumors are still circulating.

Aside from earlier reports about Anna having powers or stealing her sister's powers, now a new rumor is circulating. Christian Post reported that currently one major rumor is that the sequel will have an LGBT theme inserted in it.

The sequel, according to directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, will feature a strong theme.

"We have an overall idea, a concept, which I think is a very strong one. I’m very excited about doing it," Buck told Movie Pilot.

The film, according to MP, has inspired many including young girls and people from the LGBT community, with its themes of acceptance, as well as a sidelining from the usual Disney theme "save the princess." This is rumoured to be one of the directions the Disney film might go into.

"We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with.” Buck said. I think we’re very aware of what is happening in society. When the kids watch [Disney movies], they watch them over and over again, and if we don’t have a decent message in there, I think we’ve missed an opportunity."

Some people interpreted this comment as a hint that “Frozen 2” will give emphasis on the LGBT issues in society and have spread rumors saying Elsa will have a female love interest, making her Disney's first-ever gay character.

In the first movie, Elsa was shown to be tormented by her powers. Buck said that in the sequel, fans will get to see a more fun side of her.

"[In Frozen] she had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she’s just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again. That’s what was really good about the short [Frozen Fever] – we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality … you will see in the next one."

On another side, the directors have said that the movie already has two great female leads and will probably focus more on that.

"We have two very strong female leads in Frozen. We will keep that going in the next one.”

Fans will just have to wait. Watch out for more scoops on “Frozen 2.”
