'The Incredibles 2' Release Date Confirmed For June 2019, Plot Includes Edna Mode as a Superhero? [Rumors]

The sequel to "The Incredibles" is confirmed and Disney has the movie calendared for a June 21, 2019 theater release, per Vulture. But while that's still about three years away, talks about the movie's storyline and plot has been spilling on the internet. The speculations are making movie-goers more eager to see the film.

The Bit Bag reported that the sequel could be set five years after the first movie finished off, so the kids Dash, Violet and Jack Jack are a lot older. The news outlet also reported that the character of Edna Mode is expected to return. This time, she's not just the handler of the family of superheroes, she's also super crime-fighter herself. Her expertise with technology and manufacturing would prove very useful in her new role.

Master Herald reported that Mr. Incredible and his wife Elastigirl could find themselves semi-retired for "The Incredibles 2." While they've scaled down on their superhero work, it will be the kids taking over their duties.

Australia News Network reported that the central story could revolve around Jack Jack, who at six years old may still have to adjust to his superhero abilities and get used to the fact that he is a different child with a very special family. The news outlet suggested Syndrome could be back to his old ways and take advantage of Jack Jack's weakness and confusion. He might essentially steer the boy away from his family and eventually influence him to his evil ways, thus making Jack Jack rebel against his family. Perhaps that's when Edna will come to the rescue and save the Parr family's youngest child.

Back in September, writer and director Brad Bird confirmed that the script to "The Incredibles 2" is still three-fourths done and there are still plenty of kinks to iron out. Plenty of people are currently working in the movie' pre-production and they have already put some scenes in the storyboard, though. "What you don't want to do is trot over the same turf in the same way everyone else is. So we're trying to keep it focused in the area that our film was, which was a little bit more about characters and relationships and stuff like that, and see where that takes us," he said, per Collider.

Meanwhile, with the movie's time-shift, it's expected that new voice actors will be cast for the role of the kids. Disney has yet to announce who will be playing the characters, but actual production should be all set very soon.
