'Guardians of The Galaxy 2' Cast & Characters: Director James Gunn Addresses Major Rumors - What You Need To Know!

James Gunn's “Guardians of The Galaxy” has been a hit, getting many fans (especially Groot). Now, the sequel's getting hit by some major rumor, attempting to spoil a major plot: knowing who protagonist Peter Quill's father is.

IGN reported that fans of the movie would have probably known by now that one of the things that the sequel would reveal is who Star-Lord's father is. Of course, fans would remember that nearing the end of the first movie, Nova Prime and other experts have discovered that Quill is some sort of hybrid, and that his father is not a human – enabling him to hold the extremely deadly infinity stone with the other members of the group, without all of them dying.

The ending made fans question who his dad really is. Now, a 'reveal' resulting from an “investigation a year in the making” by Heroic Hollywood attempted to show everyone who that person is.

If this holds true, then this will be a massive spoiler. If you aren't comfortable with this, then stop reading.

According to the reveal, this is “Marvel Studio's biggest and most speculated mystery.” The reveal said it acquired data from four unnamed sources who didn't know each other, thus it's “highly unlikely” that the information regarding Quill's father is all made up.

HH claimed that Star-Lord's father is the first Captain Marvel, or more specifically, Mar-Vell. He's a Silver Age character introduced 1962 in Marvel Super-Heroes #12. He's created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan.

Of course, the sequel doesn't appear until two years from now, and many things could happen. But for now, just take director James Gunn's word for the issue, posted on Facebook:

“the rumors surrounding Quill’s parentage at the present moment are completely false, and aren’t even close to the truth. I don’t know how people come up with this stuff, but it certainly isn’t through legitimate sources.”

He said that spoilers don't add to the enjoyment of seeing the movies personally, and added that when new “scoops” and rumors arise, fans better remember that his team doesn't rely on plot twists to add a thrill factor to the movie:

“We’re creating a film that doesn’t rely on plot twists to be an enjoyable experience. They’re only a very small part of what we’re cooking up for you.”

That said, it's better to wait for the real deal when it arrives. “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2” releases May 5, 2017.
