Huawei Mate 8 Release Date & Price: High-End Phablet's Specs & Features Here

A new phablet has been unveiled by Chinese tech giant Huawei, and this new monster is huge. This smartphone might even be able to rival current flagships from other companies.

According to Mobile Burn, the Huawei Mate 8 has been unveiled very recently and it features a wide 6-inch screen. However, Huawei has only opted to fit in a Full HD 1080p resolution that has a pixel density of 367 ppi. Although it doesn't have Quad HD resolution, it will still be able to give users a good quality viewing experience, especially when videos and games are concerned.

G for Games reported that the leaked photos suggested that Mate 8 is clad in a metal body and has a “bezel-less” design – as bezels were almost inexistent. The top and bottom bezels are narrow, giving the phablet an impressive screen-to-body ratio.

A USB port is put between a pair or speakers on the bottom edge while volume control and power buttons are located on the right hand side of the phone's body. The seemingly clean back panel features a camera with LED flash, a fingerprint scanner and the Huawei logo. The photos also revealed that the Mate 8 will be available in three different colors: grey, gold and copper.

Although the phone makes good marks in the looks department, the real deal is found beneath the metal casing. The Mate 8 will reportedly run on Huawei's new Kirin 950 processor, which has been making impressive benchmark results and has been found to be the fastest silicon to date in a smartphone.

The HiSilicon Kirin 950 comes with four Cortex A72 cores that clocked at 2.3GHz and also four Cortex A52 cores that clocked at 1.8GHz. This processor can be paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM.

This means that the Mate 8 will come in two different variants: one with 3GB or RAM and 32GB of internal storage; and another with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The phone will also be equipped with two cameras: the rear camera being a 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 with f/2.0 aperture and 3-axis OIS serving as the main camera; and an 8-megapixel Sony IMX179 with f/2.4 aperture snaps up selfie shots from the front.

The device gets powered by a 4000mAh battery and will run on Huawei's Emotion UI 4.0 running on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Mate 8 will be released in China during the first quarter of 2016. So far, no information regarding the price and other regions have been released just yet.
