'XCOM 2' Release Date & Pre Order: Gameplay System Requirements Revealed; 3 Expansion Packs Announced [Video]

Firaxis's “XCOM 2,” the sequel to the hit strategy game “XCOM: Enemy Unknown,” will be released in Feb. 5, 2016 for the PC. Of course, hardcore strategy players will want to get the game. However, the question is, “can your PC handle it?”

The good guys at Gamespot said that the system requirements for the highly-awaited turn-based strategy game have been released. The details were found in the game's Steam page. Here's what Firaxis gave as the minimum system requirements needed to run the game:

Minimum PC System Requirements:

• 64-bit Windows 7 Operating system
• Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core 2.6 GHz processor
• 4 GB of RAM
• 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5770, 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or a better graphics card
• DirectX version 11
• 45 GB available storage space
• DirectX compatible sound card

Of course, those specs are only meant to run the game on lowest settings. Here are the recommended specs needed to run it perfectly in all its glory:

• 64-bit Windows 7 Operating System
• 3GHz Quad Core processor
• 8 GB of RAM
• 2GB ATI Radeon HD 7970, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 or a better graphics card
• 45 GB available storage space
• DirectX compatible sound card

No console versions have been announced just yet, but they are not ruled out.

Aside from releasing system requirements, three expansion packs have been announced for the game.

2K announced in a press release that the “XCOM 2 Digital Deluxe Edition” is already available for pre-order at $74.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the game “XCOM 2,” the “XCOM 2 Reinforcement Pack” and the game's digital soundtrack.

The “Reinforcement Pack” gives access to three downloadable add-on packs. It can be purchased separately from the game for $19.99. Each add-on pack contains unique content that will enhance a player's “XCOM 2” gaming experience.

The “Reinforcement Pack” includes these three downloadable expansions:

Anarchy’s Children. This DLC features rebellion-themed content with more dramatic soldier customizations (available spring 2016).

Alien Hunters. This introduces new gameplay surrounding XCOM as an elite alien hunting unit tracking down “Ruler” aliens. It brings a new mission, new soldier customization options and more powerful weapons and armor (available summer 2016).

Shen’s Last Gift. This offers a brand new soldier class with unique upgradeable weapons, armor and customization features. It also includes an additional narrative-driven mission and map (available summer 2016).

Those who pre-order the “Digital Deluxe Edition” will also receive a free “Resistance Warrior Pack” that gives additional soldier customization options and a new XCOM recruit called “Survivor of the Old War.”
