'Deadpool' Release Date & Costume: Trailer Launching During Christmas Day NBA Game? [Report]

Christmas is coming and 20th Century Fox has a gift for everyone who loves a certain wacky anti-hero who goes by the name of Wade Wilson. Reports claimed that “Deadpool” will be giving a Christmas present in the form of a movie trailer come December 25, apparently taking the spotlight away from dear old Santa.

Comic Book Movie reported that “Deadpool” creator Robert Liefeld posted the reveal on Instagram. The photo featured the anti-hero himself along with a TV that shows an NBA player who has recently retired from the league, Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant.

Based on this reveal, it appears that the “Deadpool” trailer will be featured during the NBA game showing on ESPN come Christmas day. Screen Rant reported that the game will be between the Lakers and the Clippers, and will air 10:30 p.m. PST. Given that Bryant has just signed off the league, the game will have a lot of viewers – and even more as the humorous character gets his trailer flash on the screen.

SR added that this “Deadpool” trailer is just one of the three new trailers that has been prepared for the anti-hero's glorious release. Two of these trailers have been rated safe for all viewers, while one is not. Fans will just have to see it to believe it.

Another one of the three trailers will be shown as a teaser in IMAX theaters ahead of the galactic sequel “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.”

The “Merc with a Mouth,” as he has been called by those who knew that he had a motor mouth unlike his muted self from “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” has been highly-awaited by fans for quite a long time now. He's a fan favorite with that nonchalant attitude and offbeat sense of humor, and it seems that he deserves this kind of promotion, given the movie's production.

Hopefully, all of this hype is not just for show. Fans are expecting that the movie will bring an epic adaptation of the comicbook character who has won many with his brand of humor. In fact, the trailer's coming on Christmas has already won a fan.

“cool…see guys Santa does exist,” a certain mindgame commented on SR, “can’t wait for this.”

“Deadpool” will be revolving on the story of Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces operative who became the disfigured "Merc with a Mouth" out for revenge. It will star Ryan Reynolds, Brianna Hildebrand, Andre Tricoteux, Ed Skrein and Gina Carano.

“Deadpool” opens in theaters Feb. 12, 2016.
