'Suicide Squad' Release Date & Cast: Jared Leto 'Crazy' on Set, Says Co-Star; Joker, Harley Quinn Romance Confirmed? [Rumors]

It's still a few months until "Suicide Squad" hits the big screen, but as early as now, there have been a lot of news and rumors regarding the first appearance of The Joker after Heath Ledger's acclaimed version.

There has been a lot of anticipation on how Jared Leto will portray The Joker, with reports that the "30 Seconds to Mars" frontman has stayed in character on and off cam. One of Leto's co-star even attested to the actor's "crazy" antics on set.

Ike Barinholtz, in an interview with Howard Stern, reveals some "insane behind-the-scenes" during the filming of the "Suicide Squad." Barinholtz revealed that Leto stayed in character throughout the whole shoot and "[kept] to himself."

Barinholtz even revealed that during their rehearsal, Leto gave a surprise to Margot Robbie, who plays her on-screen crush Harley Quinn. "We're rehearsing and this actor who plays the Joker's kind of lieutenant, walks in. And he goes, 'Present for Ms. Quinn.' Hands her a box. She opens the f*****g box and a live giant black rat pops out. We're like what the f**k is going on? That's crazy!" the actor said.

But it was not just Robbie who tasted Leto's crazy antics while preparing for The Joker in "Suicide Squad."

"So then 20 minutes later we're still rehearsing and the actor comes back in and goes, 'This is for the squad from Mr. J,' and he f*****g throws a pig on the table. A dead pig! As he puts this pig on the table, all these bullets start to come out of it," Barinholtz further said.

However, it was not just Leto who got a bit crazy on the set of "Suicide Squad." Robbie, using a tattoo gun, spelled "Suicide Squad" on a lot of people on the set, and even misspelled it on one guy. Will Smith also got into tattooing. "He's one of those guys -- he's so rich that all he wants to do is buy people shit and have parties. He's generous," said Barinholtz of the actor who plays Deadshot.

He even remembered Smith treating everyone with a private screening of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight as the crew missed it. According to Barinholtz, Smith rented a 500-person auditorium with movie screens and also served catered food.

Meanwhile, according to Inquistr, Barinholtz also hinted about a romance between Harley Quinn and The Joker in the film. “His character is in love with Margot Robbie -- she’s Harley Quinn,” he said.

"Suicide Squad" stars Leto, Robbie, Smith, Barinholtz, Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Cara Delevigne (Enchantress), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Adam Beach (Slipknot), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Karen Fukuhara (Katana) and Jay Hernandez (Diablo). It's slated to be released on Aug. 5, 2016.
