'Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2' Release Date, Characters, Features & News Update: Beta Version To Be Released This Week? New Game Has Backyard Battleground, Characters

The free multiplayer beta version of "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" will be available starting January 14 for both Xbox and PS4. However, fans should be fast enough to purchase and download the game since it will only be available for a limited time.

The beta version of the freshest "Plants vs. Zombies" installment can be downloaded for free Thursday this week. However, the gamers can only play the game from January 14 to January 18.

The "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" limited-time beta will be available for download in both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. Up to this writing, however, it is not clear yet if the beta-version of the game will also be available for PC.

GameSpot revealed that the fans of the new "Plant vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" will include limited access to backyard battleground, which acts as the menu and links the players to every mode and map available within the game. Moreover, it was reported that there are six new playable character classes available to play as: the Zombies have Captain Deadbeard, Super Brainz and Imp, while plants get Kernel Corn, Citron and Rose.

Captain Deadbeard is a pirate ship captain with a hidden weapon, while Super Brainz is a zombie with a great hair, beautiful smile and a great punch. Imp and Z-Mech, on the other hand, are the smallest type of characters but are the most destructive with their missiles and Mech robo capabilities.

Team plants will add up Kernel Corn, which is an offense-assault type of character with dual cob busters as its weapon. Citron is a time-traveling bounty hunter orange, while Rose is a sorceress which can change zombies to goats.

"Game modes included in the beta feature 24-player matches, including a new mode called Herbal Assault, where plants attack and zombies defend," the news website stated on its report. "These modes will be played on four new maps including one with low gravity called Moon Base Z."

The "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" will be launched in North America on Feb. 23, 2016 for PS4, Xbox One and PC users. In Europe, the game will be released on Feb. 25.
