‘The Winds of Winter’ Release Date & News Update: ‘Furious’ Fans Called George RR Martin ‘Very Unprofessional’, Worried Author Dies Without Finishing The Book?

Several fans were disappointed after they learned that the release date of the sixth installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire" has been delayed again after four-long years of waiting. It has been previously reported that George R.R. Martin wanted to release "The Winds of Winter" before the comeback of the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 in the small screens.

Using his personal blog, George updated his fans about the latest status of "The Winds of Winter" book. "THE WINDS OF WINTER is not finished," the New Mexican author penned on his post. "Believe me, it gave me no pleasure to type those words. You're disappointed, and you're not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me."

George has been very vocal that he wants to finish the highly-anticipated book. As a matter of fact, he said that he wanted to be able to say that "I have completed and delivered THE WINDS OF WINTER" before 2015 comes to a close. Unfortunately, it did not happen.

With the delay, it is expected that fans will be furious for several reasons.  One of which is that they are afraid that George will die without finishing the book series. Per Fashion & Style, several fans are afraid that it will be similar to what happened to "The Wheel of Time," wherein Robert Jordan died at 58 with still three books in the series remained unfinished.

Aside from that, fans are worried that the hit TV series of HBO, "Game of Thrones" might spoil the book. Scheduled to air on April 24, 206, "Game of Thrones" Season 6 is expected to follow the story of "The Winds of Winter." However, fans were assured that there is nothing to worry about since the show and the book have differed at this point despite the fact that some storylines will be featured in the TV series.

Moreover, fans are getting sick of George's excuses for not finishing the book. Some fans even accused him of being unprofessional for not doing his job and finish the book. For his part, the popular author offered no excuses on his blog. "But I won't make excuses. There are no excuses. No one else is to blame," he penned. "It's on me. I tried, and I am still trying."

Meanwhile, Richard Plepler remained confident with the upcoming comeback of the "Games of Thrones." The HBO chairman said that "GoT" showrunners Daniel Brett Weiss and David Benioff will "never do anything that would violate George's sense of integrity of the story."
