3D Printed Fetuses Expected To Be 2016’s Hottest Parenting Trend

Eager soon-to-be moms and dads cannot wait to hold their babies in their arms, which is probably the reason why 3D printed fetuses are expected to become one of the hottest parenting trends this 2016. And while everyone loves to cuddle babies, doing so before the baby is born may become quite a bit weird.

However, UK's top parenting website, Channel Mum, believes otherwise. According to the website, having a 3D model of a fetus, which would be based on the baby's ultrasound scan and transformed into a plastic object, will actually be one of the biggest baby trends this year.

Excited parents will need to shell out £400 or an estimated $567 for their eight-inch baby, whose skin tone will be expertly matched to them. If the price tag is a wee bit expensive, another option is to pay £170 or about $241 to simply get a small sculpture of the unborn child's head and shoulders.

While some parents are not warming up to this new trend, The Guardian reports that already a quarter of British parents have shown their interest in purchasing 3D models of their babies. In fact, despite the strangeness of the trend, there is already a number of 3D printing companies offering the service.

Aside from the 3D Printed Fetus trend, Channel Mum has also found out that there is about 77 percent of parents who are considering giving their child a name inspired by the movie, "Star Wars." The names, which are expected to be included in this year's "Most Popular" list, are Rey, Finn and Ezra, characters from the seventh installment in the franchise, "The Force Awakens."

In addition, there might also be a trend for the £25 or roughly $36 gadget called the Heartbeat Bear Kit. This device records the baby's heartbeat for keepsake purposes.
