'Wonder Woman' Release Date, Cast & Update: Movie Debuts First Footage, Release Dates Announced! [VIDEO]

Earlier this week, CBS and Warner Bros. premiered the first look at the upcoming female-centric film "Wonder Woman." The trailer was about the complete DC Comics movie universe and added the interesting origin story of mythical proportions. 

Wonder Woman is the origin story of an Amazonian warrior princess starring Gal Gadot. IBT reported the character will be introduced in the upcoming DC Comics expansion film, "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice."

However, her supporting role days will end this 2017. The movie slated to hit the big screen on June 23 next year and she will star in a standalone origin story all her own. 

"Wonder Woman's like one of the greatest superheroes out there, but people don't know her origins like they know Superman's origin or Batman's origin," DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff John said. "So what we want to do in the film is really tell people who she is, where she comes from and why she does what she does." 

Wonder Woman maybe the great fighter in the DC Comics universe, as per People. Her skills put her beyond that of Batman and maybe also Superman as she spent most of her life training to be a mighty warrior.

Since superhero movies have become so known in pop culture, no one has expected and allowed a female to lead one and that's one of the reasons fans are so eager to see a live-action "Wonder Woman" movie as mentioned recently. "Wonder Woman" will hit theaters first though Marvel has high plans with "Captain Marvel."

"Telling a story like this now is pivotal and important," actor and "Wonder Woman" star Chris Pine said in the trailer. "The story of a very powerful woman." 

Patty Jenkins will direct "Wonder Woman," Variety shared. Jenkins will get some help from "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" director Zack Snyder, who will be also on board as a producer.
