'Iron Man 4' Release Date & Update: Marvel Going Ahead With 4th Iron Man Installment Even Without Robert Downey Jr.; To Be Released In 2020

The Marvel Universe has become one of the biggest producers of superhero Hollywood films and they have yet to finish what they have started. One of their biggest franchises, the "Iron Man" saga, has been very successful.

Each one of the "Iron Movie" that hits theaters always breaks box office sales. So it's no wonder that Marvel wants another installment of "Iron Man" and that's "Iron Man 4".

Despite Robert Downey Jr. -- the actor who plays Iron Man in the movies -- saying that there is no "Iron Man 4," rumors are still not dying down about Marvel planning to release a 4^th installment. Marvel has a line of superhero movies planned to be released in the coming years and, although "Iron Man 4" is not part of it, fans think that it is one of the surprise movies Marvel will release in 2019 or 2020.

It should also be noted that Robert Downey Jr. is seemingly not coming back to reprise his role as billionaire-philanthropist Tony Stark/ Iron Man in "Iron Man 4." Parent Herald previously reported that Downey Jr. is said to be tired of the role and said that he is too old to play Iron Man by the time "Iron Man 4" starts production.

Marvel was even willing to pay Downey Jr. $100 million to reprise his role in "Iron Man 4." However, it is yet to be confirmed whether Downey Jr. will take the fee and play Iron Man once again or truly stick to his guns on not playing the armored superhero anymore.

"Iron Man 4" is just one of the rumored movies Marvel will be releasing in the coming years. After all, according to their time table, Marvel plans to release 11 films in a span of four years and three of those films are surprises. Fans believe that one of those three is "Iron Man 4," but who knows?
