Few Common Mistakes New Parents Make

Being a new parent can be overwhelming. You worry too much about everything and wonder if you're doing the right thing. So, to help you during your nerve-wracking stage, here are some of the things that new parents normally commit.

Panicking every minute.

During the first year of a baby's life, new parents mostly fuss over the baby's well-being. They always wonder if the child throw-up too much, poops too much or too few. Likewise, worry if the baby eats enough.

Although the reaction is natural, Leon Hoffman, MD, director of the Pacella Parent Child Center in New York told WebMD that worrying over small things can only waste the entire first year of the baby's life. Instead of worrying, the doctor recommended that the family should enjoy every moment with their bundle of joy because "babies are far more resilient than we give them credit for."

Waking your baby up to breastfeed.

New parents normally live with the misconception that they need to wake their babies up every couple of hours in the night to feed them. But what they don't know they are just disturbing their babies sleep. Actually, parents can let the baby sleep through the night if the child is healthy and well-fed through the day.

Ignoring your baby's oral care.

Many experts suggested that parents should pay attention to their child's oral hygiene during the first year of their life. After feeding your child, take a wet cotton or gauze and gently wipe your baby's gums. By the time the child turned one, parents can encourage their kid to use a toothbrush.

More so, fluoride is very important to a child and it can be naturally found in water. Few sips of water can prevent cavities.

There are still many things new parents should learn. Hence, it is very important to always visit a pediatrician to track baby's health and growth.
