Has The World Gone Mad? Bystanders Took Pictures Of A Mother And Daughter Trapped In Their Car Instead Of Helping Them

It has become very common in our society for people to use their phones to take pictures of different things, exciting situations, funny moments and unique events. Unfortunately, some people in Ferryhill, County Durham decided to take pictures of a mother and daughter screaming for help while trapped inside their car instead of helping them out.

According to The Daily Mail, the accident happened when a tree fell onto and smashed the moving car of 49-year-old Susan McKay and her 25-year-old daughter, trapping the mother and daughter inside. The pair were shocked to see that people were taking pictures of them instead of trying to set them free.

"It is disgraceful and disgusting," a furious McKay told the Daily Mail. "If it was their mother or daughter would they like their pictures taken?" The mother also said that she told the bystanders to stop taking pictures and just get out of the way if they were not going to help.

Fortunately, a bus driver helped out the mother and daughter until the emergency services arrived. "He was really good, we're grateful to him and emergency services but disgusted with the others, I'm mortified by their actions and they should feel ashamed," McKay further explained.

The mother was travelling along with her daughter to visit a family member when the accident happened. The mother and daughter were taken to the University Hospital of North Durham and were treated for some minor injuries.

Green Flag posted an article about what to do if you witness an accident on the road. "Your first priority should be to check if anyone is injured and if so call 999 for an ambulance," the article shared. "Let the 999 operators know the extent of any injuries. Stay at the scene as the emergency services may rely on you to let them know the location of the accident."
