At 69, Filmmaker George Lucas Welcomes His First Biological Child

Director George Lucas of the 'Star Wars' fame welcomed his first biological child at the age of 69.

Lucas and 44-year-old wife Mellody Hobson welcomed a baby daughter Monday, the representatives of the filmmaker announced. Lucas is already father to three adopted children - Amanda, 32; Katie, 25; and 20-year-old Jett Lucas.

The couple, who were married in June, named their daughter Everest Hobson Lucas. She was born via surrogacy. The hotshot filmmaker is known for making movies such as 'Star Wars' and 'Indiana Jones.'

A month after their marriage, the wedding reception of Lucas and Hobson, who is the president of Ariel Investments, was held at Promontory Point, Chicago. It was attended by the crème de la crème guests such as Robin Williams, Desiree Rogers, Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen.

Prior to Hobson, Lucas was married to Academy award-winning film editor Marcia Lou Griffin in 1969. However, after 14 years of marriage, the couple divorced in 1983. He also dated singer Linda Ronstadt for a brief period. In 2006, he began dating Hobson.

'Star Wars' is known for some  memorable characters such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Darth Vader. The series is a classic cult. Dialogues like "May the force be with you" are part of popular lore.

In October 2012, Lucas sold his production company Lucas film Ltd to Walt Disney Co. for $4.05 billion. Following this, Disney announced plans for three new 'Star Wars' movies and an animated TV series that is scheduled to air in 2014.
