Parenting Twin Babies 101

If a pregnant mother happens to know she is carrying twins, the very first thing she will feel is excitement. Having twins is surely a good thing because it only happens in 3 out of 100 pregnancies, according to BabyCenter . This means you are a lucky couple having twin babies but with all the positive thoughts, there also lies in their minds the fear of what will be the outcome in raising the two.

Here are some few things that parents will experience that are considered to be some of the biggest challenge in bringing up their twins.

One parent will have to take care of the twins at some point

There will come a time where one of the parents will have to leave for work or do important things. Either the dad or the mom will have no choice but to take responsibility for the babies while their partner is out. It's really hard because you have to take in consideration when doing something for one of the twins. If only you can split yourself into two, it would easily solve the problem.

Tantrums at the same time

Hearing your baby cry will make you worry. How much more if you have two babies crying at the same time?

There are several reasons why babies have tantrums.Claire B. Kopp, a professor of applied developmental psychology at California's Claremont Graduate University, said that it usually happens if they need or want something that they are not getting because they can't talk yet, BabyCenter shares.

Their frustration results to endless crying to get their parent's attention. It's really difficult to carry or bottle feed two babies at a time. This is one of the hardest part of raising twins.

Sharing things

Once the babies will develop the ability to understand, they try to focus on things that catches their interest. They become more curious. For twins, if they have the same interest on one thing, they fight over it. One big example is fighting over one toy that is very appealing to both of them. The result, mom and dad will always have to buy two for almost everything for their babies.

So, if you happen to know that you are having twin babies, plan ahead of time and read a lot of helpful books or articles about "Parenting for twin babies."
