Kate Middleton is known for her advocacies - and, of course, her fashion sense and toned figure. Not known to many, the Duchess of Cambridge used the Dukan Diet to get slimmer in time for her wedding to Prince William in 2011.

New York Daily News shared that Carole Middleton and Pippa Middleton have also used the Dukan Diet Program to shed off the extra pounds. Because of its promising and efficient results, the program's high-protein and low-carb diet plan caught the attention of several health and fitness buff.

"My diet is efficient," Dr. Pierre Dukan told the news outfit. "Nobody says it's not one of the best for efficiency. It's very quick, which encourages people, and it's simple."

"The Dukan Diet is a high protein, low fat, low carb diet-a healthy eating plan based on proteins and vegetables, 100 foods in total," its official website says. ".. And what's best, it's "EAT AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE."

Defined as restructuring one' eating pattern to stabilize weight, Dukan Diet has four major phases in the program:

1. Attack Phase - At this stage, one has to eat high-protein food to jumpstart the diet.

2. Cruise Phase - This is the stage where dieters are required to eat any of the 32 recommended vegetables. More so, it is on this stage wherein one has to eat protein and vegetable, and pure protein alternately to shed off unwanted pounds.

3. Consolidation Phase - At this stage, one has to follow a stricter timeline. Stopping the body regain the weight loss during the preceding stages, this phase permits dieters to indulge themselves to prohibited foods little by little.

4. Stabilization Phase - This is the stage where the dieters are free to adopt their own eating schedule. However, there are three immutable rule: 2) Eat 3 tablespoons of Oat Bran daily; 2) Do 20 minutes of walking every day, and 3) Partake pure protein Thursday each week.

Meanwhile, Dukan Diet is considered as 27th best fast weight-loss diets out of 38 programs. However, US & World News Report stated that no clinical trials have been conducted to assess whether this weight-loss program is effective of not.
